Monroe Shooting in Homer, Louisiana

(Left) Louise Marie Monroe, 72, the widow of Bernard Monroe, sits on the porch where she watched her husband of 49 years lie dying in the yard below. Witnesses and family members believe Bernard Monroe was on his way into the house to check on his wife when he was shot seven times through the screen door by police as he walked up the steps. (Right) Shuan Monroe stands in the road in front of the house where his father was shot. Shaun, the son of Bernard Monroe, Sr., was being pursued by police when the shooting occurred. "If you ask me if I feel responsible for my father's death, I think about that everyday. Everyday."
