Info

Bison roam over 700 acres at Caprock Canyons State Park in Quitaque, Texas. These near 100 descendants of Charles Goodnight's famous herd comprise one of five "Foundation" herds from which most herds throughout the country were started and are the last remaining members of the Southern Plains bison herd.

Visitors to the park can see the bison from park roads and trails but are asked to keep at least 50 yards away for safety of both the animals and the humans.
